Why Should I Journal?

Why should I write down my thoughts and feelings? What if someone else reads them? What if I don’t have time to get real and reflect?
All valid questions and concerns.
Here are reasons you should journal
Assists with imagining, telling, changing and discovering our stories. It aids in accessing our wisdom and authenticity.
Allows you to empty your ruminating brain of worry, fear, anxiety, sadness. It’s magical how simply and honestly writing it down flushes these stressful emotions down the drain (sometimes!).
Helps you find clarity in situations. Allows us to sort what is ours to own and what belongs to others. We can’t control others’ thoughts, actions, words – only our own. Writing these down helps you release what you can’t control.
Aids in expressing our emotions, particularly those we don’t want to own.
Discover themes of struggles and victories. Why do I keep making the same mistakes? Recognize your strengths and how they can help others.
Grows self-compassion and empathy for others.
Provides insight. Even writing this now, I am learning and growing in my thoughts.
The relationship with yourself deepens.
Assists with better decision-making. Gives you a visual aid to see options laid out.
Provides a record of our thoughts and feelings that we can visit later if we want to.
